Message from the Principal

Dear Parents,

This week I would like to thank all those parents who came to the Secondary Coffee Morning. It was good to hear your comments and to discuss the issues raised face to face. As stated before, there needs to be a partnership between home and school and if we wish to improve matters, we do need to have open communication between us.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Student Council for organising the primary movie night. A lot of fun was had by all who stayed. My thanks also goes to their sponsor teachers, Ms. Carolina Barboza and Mr. Angus King as well as all those teachers who stayed after school to help with the event.

Wishing you a pleasant weekend,

Ulfet Okbay

Primary News

Last Monday, November 14th, Miss Gail, teacher member of our Nutrition Committee, organized an assembly on Nutrition for all students in Years 1 to 6. The aim of the assembly was to remind students of the importance of having a balanced diet, and, therefore, to choose at lunch time a variety of foods from every food category (carbohydrates, proteins, minerals and vitamins). After a short introduction during which students revised what food belongs to what category, a couple of volunteers were chosen and, blindfolded, they had to taste some food, guess what it was, and tell whether they were a carbohydrate, a protein or contained vitamins and minerals. The assembly was a fun way of reinforcing the concept of Healthy Eating, which is also a part of our PE, PSHE and Social Studies curricula.

Swimming Competitions

Last Friday and Saturday some of our swim team members entered competitions at Ozel Ege School and Issikent School. Our children did exceptionally well and performed to a very high standard. A special congratulations must go to Aleksander Garstka in year 5 who was the overall winner out of all the schools who attended on the Friday Swimming Gala and on the Saturday won also many of his races racing against students that were two years older than him.
The students have come on leaps and bounds over the years and we would like to thank them for their commitment to training.

Winter Show

Dear Parents,
The Winter Show will take place on December 10th between 10:00-14:00. Students in Years 5 to 9 have prepared music, drama and dance ensembles that they will be presenting to you on that occasion. Please note that these performances are part of their Trimester 1 assessment grade, and students are therefore required to attend. Unless under exceptional circumstances, students who do not attend the performances will be given a zero on their report cards. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me on or Miss Julianne Ostroski on .

STUCO and Primary Movie Night

This week the Primary students had great fun attending Movie Night, a STUCO initiative.

Students from Year 1 to Year 6 had the opportunity to play together for a warm-up, before heading to the conference hall to watch the movie Ice Age: Collision Course. They had delicious snacks, pizza and candy! Kids were very excited to join a special activity after school.

Big thanks to Marco, Moritz, Linn, and Danica, who lead the event and ensured everyone had a great time! We are proud of STUCO for building up school spirit and fun as an united community. Thank you ADMIN and Ms. Lynnette for helping make it happen!

Ms. Carolina & Mr. Angus
