Dear Parents

For those families who are staying for the next academic year, 2017/2018, I would be very grateful if you could let me know if there are any changes to your children's health status that we should know in order to keep our records fully up to date.

Year 6 End of Year ed-ex

Message from the Principal

Dear Parents,

Yesterday evening, we had our Graduation Ceremony for Year 13. The weather was horrendous and many people spent the day full of worry about the chance of heavy rain. Eventually, we were able to go ahead with the ceremony as planned despite getting a little wet at times.

I, and I am sure many others, felt very proud of our students. I am glad that we had the chance to honour them and make them feel special. Margarita Saenz Martinez, our Valedictorian, gave us a great speech which reflected her character beautifully.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our guest speakers, Commander Williams and Fergus O’Donoghue for inspiring us with their words. I would also like to thank Ms. Dagmar Faulk and Mr. Yiğit Dadan for their musical contributions which helped make the evening so memorable.

Finally, a great big thank you goes to the wonderful team here at school for making the evening possible. They are the best!

Wishing you a great weekend,

Ulfet Okbay

Principal

Primary News

Congratulations to our Year 6 students on their Graduation day. Special thanks to Mr Angus who prepared them for their academic and emotional challenges, and supported them through their Checkpoint Tests and final exams this year. The students had a busy year: they attended various educational excursions, had a speech contest, a Science Fair, were group leaders for the younger students during our Earth Day celebration, and were rewarded this week with a nice lunch and a game of bowling. We wish our Year 6 students all the best with their future studies, wherever they will be.

News from PE Department

Next week on Monday and Wednesday afternoon all students both students in Primary (years 3-6) and Secondary will be having internal swimming competitions. Unfortunately, we will not be able to have parents at these events.

Message from the Counselor

This week I would like to express all my admiration and send my very best wishes to our amazing Year 13 students, who completed their school life here with us at MEFIS Izmir and are now going to pursue their dreams around the world. It was a  privilege to get to know each and every single one of them. I am proud of their trajectories and diverse backgrounds, interests and skills. I can't wait to hear about the positive impact they will have in their communities and in the world. This is just the beginning!

Also, big shout out to the lovely Year 6 kids, who are celebrating the completion of Primary school. Growing up is not always easy, but it is definitely exciting! They are a caring group and I had lots of fun working and learning with them this year. Keep up your curiosity and hard work and remember to always see the best in people, wherever you go.

In has been an emotional week and most of all a celebration of learning and friendship. Congratulations to Year 13, Year 6, their teachers and families!
