Last week we met with the core members of our Parent Council (PC). I want to take this moment to thank Dagmar, Bibi & Amanda for all their efforts. I especially appreciate how they approach their roles in a spirit of partnership. Please support the PC (as I know many of you do) - they are still in need of a secretary, if anyone would like to volunteer.
After receiving the suggestion from the PC, we met with Year 13 students to look at changing the date of the Prom. Please note that this year’s prom will now be on Friday, 9th June.
I would now like to draw attention to the efforts of our Student Council (StuCo). My thanks go to them for trying to create a stronger school spirit by organising our Friday dress-up days. They have many ideas for the coming months and I wish them every success in making these happen. They have also worked hard to try and reverse the decision on in-school printing for upper secondary and I am delighted to announce that their efforts have paid off. This has been a great example of organised campaigning. Well done, StuCo!
Finally, yesterday we had a small memorial assembly for our school’s founder, Dr. Ibrahim Arikan. He was an inspirational man and is sorely missed. Please click here for the presentation we screened for the students describing his life story. During this assembly and minute of silence, I was greatly impressed with our student’s reverence and respect. I’m sure Ibrahim bey would have been very proud of them!
