Message from the Principal

We are sad to say goodbye to six students who are returning to their home countries but there are four new families beginning in April. Our school community is one that changes, but we are confident that strong relationships are forged. On the last day of  term, four of our leavers from 2015 were in school to say hello and to watch the talent show. It's always a pleasure to reunite. As we begin our Spring Break we wish all of our families a happy and safe holiday, and we look forward to welcoming our students back on Monday, 4th April.

Talent Show

A huge round of applause to all our performers! We had 22 acts in Primary and 6 in Secondary from students in Years 1 to 13. Students exhibited their talents and chose to dance, sing, play an instrument or recite a story. Congratulations also to the Drama Club students who performed two plays: 'Carla and the Merchant'  and 'The Prince Frog', with Erin Murray and Annanya Oberoi as the narrators.

Student Council updates

Our students that represent their classes in Student Council have been working very hard in preparing lots of fun activities for our school. Please check out some of our highlights:

Primary and Secondary Student Councils have been working together every Wednesday to run the Tuck Shop, where they sell various items that the children enjoy, like healthy snacks and special school supplies. There is definitely a sense of excitement on Wednesdays, as the lines begin to form and grow at recess time! This is a fundraiser that allows Student Council to promote other activities for all. The Secondary Student Council has also taken the initiative to start a Lemonade stand on Fridays, and it’s been a success – who doesn’t love a refreshing glass of natural lemonade, after all?

This week students also joined for a fun Theme week, and got to dress up and inspire the sense of community around MEF IS Izmir. We loved seeing everybody’s creative ideas for Formal Day, Career day, Rainbow day and Celebrity day! Thank you for all that have joined us!

Primary Student Council arranged two Movie Nights already, and now, as Upper Secondary students prepare for Prom, we are running a Lower Primary dance for April. Both councils will also be preparing activities for the upcoming Spring fair.

It is a lot of work and extra dedication, so we are extremely proud of our very active Student Council and all they do for our school!

Ms. Carol and Mr. Angus
